Useful links

www.fnaim.fr

FNAIM website (French estate agents federation), the leading professional organisation for the property business, concerned with representing the best interests of stakeholders in the property business as well as their clients.

Our opinion: A must-see website.

www.insee.fr

The French national institute for statistics and economic studies (INSEE) is a department in the French Ministry of the Economy, Finance and Employment. It is therefore a governmental body.

Our opinion: Essential to understanding the variations in the different indexes used in the property sector (consumer price index, rent review index, construction cost index, etc.). A must-see website.

www.immoprix.com

French solicitors’ property figures website (Perval) It gives prices and indexes for each property type (house, flat, building plot) by geographical location, with averages and price ranges for your region, your département, your town, your district, and so on.
All the figures published on the website come from an analysis of property transactions actually completed across France as a whole over recent years.

Our opinion: The figures are typically slightly under market prices. They are merely a guideline. They are slightly out of date (6 months old). They need to be weighed up with the quality of your property, its location, the standard, and whether any work needs to be done.

www.anil.org

The French national housing information agency (ANIL) is your guide to buying a property for the first time, rentals, building a house or leasing. Representative offices in French départements are called ADIL.

Our opinion: Here too there is much information available and helpful tools for calculating solicitors’ fees, for example, or mortgage costs.

www.legifrance.gouv.fr

The official website of the public service of law publication. It contains the texts of laws, France's official gazette, the various French codes [commercial code, criminal code, etc], new legislation and regulations, etc.

Our opinion: Very complete and well documented, however the texts are “raw” with no notes or explanations. Feel free to ask us.

www.meilleurstaux.com

With 110 partner banks, the best rates website meilleurtaux.com and its network of 48 branches in France offers the possibility of obtaining detailed and tailor-made property loan offers very quickly, and does so free of charge to private customers. Meilleurtaux is the leading property loan broker on the internet.

Our opinion: Very good, but you only get standard responses on the internet. Do not hesitate to contact your bank, credit institutions or local brokers who provide tailor-made solutions.

In&Fi CRÉDITS

In these credit crunch times, the knowledge of a local broker, able to understand your situation is, in our view, essential. Jean-Michel SALOMONE et Frédéric BORELLI are helpful and will be able to advise you in your best interests. Say we sent you.

www.logement.equipement.gouv.fr

French Housing Ministry website.

Our opinion: A mine of information and tools for property owners, tenants or investors.

www.cadastre.gouv.fr

The website for looking at the land registry plan. The French land registry plan comprises 604,448 individual maps in image or vector format.
This service, which is offered by the French tax authority (DGI), allows you to search, view, print or order these individual maps.

Our opinion: Very useful, especially the surface area calculation and distance measuring tools. Please note that professional advice is often needed to understand all the information available.
